The critical export gotcha

Read this before your first real session. It will not throw an error — it will just silently be wrong.

The rule

If you change a track's key, pitch, or speed inside Moises and then export Separated Tracks (individual stems), those changes are NOT baked into the exported files — you get the original, unaltered stems back. Only the Audio Mix export (the combined, summed file) includes key/pitch/speed changes.

In other words: pitch-shift a song up a whole step to test a new vocal key, export "Separated Tracks," and every stem comes out in the original key — the shift silently did not apply. There is no error and no warning. You may not notice until you're already comping in Logic, wondering why nothing lines up harmonically.

The workaround

If you need a single altered stem (e.g., a bass line pitch-shifted to a new key, isolated):

  1. Apply the key/speed change.
  2. Mute every track except the one you want.
  3. Export that as an Audio Mix rather than as a Separated Track.

The "mix" of one unmuted stem is, in effect, that single altered stem as a standalone file.

Test it yourself first

Before it matters: pitch-shift something on a throwaway file, export both ways, and see the difference firsthand. It's a five-minute test that will save you a much worse afternoon later.

The full round-trip workflow

Once you know the export rule, here's the complete path from source material back into a finished Logic session:

  1. Bounce or export audio from Logic (or a SUNO render) — WAV, 48kHz/24-bit if possible.
  2. Upload to Moises AI Studio via web or desktop.
  3. Let it detect tempo, key, and chords; correct the chord lane by ear if needed.
  4. Generate the needed instrument, working section-by-section rather than requesting a full new performance.
  5. Export the individual stem(s) — using the workaround above if you need a pitch/speed change baked in.
  6. Re-import into Logic at the identical absolute start position as your reference.
  7. Verify sample alignment, check the first transient, and test polarity if stacking against original material.
  8. Comp, edit, and finish entirely inside Logic as you normally would.
